NORFOLK, Va. -- In a battle between two of Conference USA's top teams, the Old Dominion women's basketball team came up short against UAB, 69-61, on Thursday evening at the Ted Constant Center.
Old Dominion (16-7, 7-4), playing without its leading scorer in Victoria Morris who was sidelined with a foot injury, trailed by 11 entering the fourth quarter, but mounted a rally to tie the game at 54-54 with just over four minutes to go.
However, UAB (19-4, 7-3) outscored ODU, 15-7, in the final minutes to pull out the win.
Ajah Wayne led ODU with 18 points, seven rebounds and four steals, while Aziah Hudson added 16 points. Taylor Edwards also finished in double figures with 13 points and eight rebounds.

ODU was 11-of-28 from the charity stripe as a team.
The Monarchs had a +14 advantage on the glass, including a 24-3 advantage in offensive rebounds, but UAB shot lights out from both the field (54 percent) and from beyond the arc (53 percent).
ODU shot 35 percent from the field.
