NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s tennis team (5-1) will travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn. to take on Middle Tennessee (1-5) in a Conference USA clash on Friday, Feb. 8 at 2:00 p.m. EST. Then on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 11:00 a.m. ET, the Monarchs will get a stab at No. 24 nationally ranked Tennessee (3-1).

Friday will mark the first match against a league opponent this season for ODU. Old Dominion is off to a 5-1 start to the season, with the Monarchs only loss coming to No. 4 nationally ranked Duke.

Team captain Nataliia Vlasova went a perfect 4-0 last week, highlighted by a straight set victory over Missouri’s No. 60 nationally ranked Lisa Fukutoku (6-3, 6-2), which helped lead the Monarchs to handing Missouri’s its first loss of the season by a 4-2 score. Against Morgan State, Vlasova played No. 1 singles, also winning in dominating fashion, 6-1, 6-0.
Middle Tennessee enters Friday’s match with a 1-5 record after suffering losses to Austin Peay (4-3), No. 6 Texas (4-0), Wichita State (4-1), FGCU (5-2) and USF (7-0). The Blue Raiders defeated Lipscomb by a 5-2 score.
No. 24 nationally ranked Tennessee enters the week with a 3-1 mark after defeating North Alabama twice by 7-0 scores, as well as No. 20 nationally ranked Florida State by a 4-3 score. The Volunteers sole loss came at the hands of No. 18 LSU by a 4-1 score. In doubles, Kaitlin Staines and Sadie Hammond are nationally ranked No. 17.
