CONWAY, S.C. – The Old Dominion lacrosse team is set to open their 2019 campaign at Coastal Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. The Monarchs are starting their first season in the Big East conference after being an affiliate member in the ASUN for the last four seasons.
Heather Holt enters her eighth season as head coach of the ODU lacrosse program. Holt returns ASUN First Team performer Glory Johnson to her offense and 2018 leading goal scorer Sophia Richie. Defensively, senior Lauren Ey, who had 120 saves in 2018 returns to the goal for 2019. Overall, ODU returns 18 letterwinners, with 11 of those student-athletes scoring one or more goals in 2018.
Holt brought in seven freshmen and a graduate transfer in Haleigh Wurzel. Wurzel, a goalkeeper from Pennsylvania led the nation in saves (206) while playing for the Bears.
ODU is 19-20 in all-time season openers.
