NORFOLK, Va. – Nataliia Vlasova of the Old Dominion women’s tennis team was named the Conference USA Athlete of the Week on Wednesday afternoon, as announced by league officials.
Team captain Vlasova went a perfect 4-0 last week, highlighted by a straight set victory over Missouri’s No. 60 nationally ranked Lisa Fukutoku (6-3, 6-2), which helped lead the Monarchs to handing Missouri’s its first loss of the season by a 4-2 score. Against Morgan State, Vlasova played No. 1 singles, also winning in dominating fashion, 6-1, 6-0. Vlasova has Old Dominion off to a 5-1 start to the season, with the Monarchs only loss coming to No. 4 nationally ranked Duke.
Vlasova and the Old Dominion women’s tennis team will return to action on Friday, Feb. 8 at 2:00 p.m. ET, when the Monarchs take on Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro. Then on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 11:00 a.m. ET, ODU will square-off against No. 24 nationally ranked Tennessee in Knoxville.
