ORLANDO, Fla.  – The Old Dominion women’s golf team jumped up four spots to eighth place after posting a 284 second round at the UCF Challenge. Abigail Portyata led the Monarchs with a two-under 70. ODU is ahead of four top-50 ranked teams with 18 holes left to play tomorrow. 

The Monarchs are 12 strokes off the lead. 

Portyata made three birdies and just one bogey on Monday. The Richmond native bumped up 21 spots for a tie for 16th after her second round. Charlotte De Corte recorded her second-straight under par round with a one-under 71 to slide into a tie for eighth. De Corte has the second most birdies with 10 through 36 holes. Freshman Jana Melichova posted a one-under 71 with one birdie on the front nine and one on the back nine. Four strokes better than her first round score, Noemie Sudron tabbed an even-par 72 on the 6,349 yard track. Senior Sana Tufail posted a 76 on Monday. 

Freshman Leah Onosato leads the individuals with a tie for 12th after a first round 69 and even-par 72 on Monday.

The Monarchs will tee off with Iowa State and East Carolina on Tuesday in a 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
