NORFOLK, Va. – Brooke Pilkington (Virginia Beach, Va.) was named the Conference USA Athlete of the Week, as announced by league officials on Wednesday afternoon. The award is ODU’s third (three different student-athletes) in the past four weeks.
Pilkington went undefeated in singles action last week for nationally-ranked Old Dominion. Against No. 16 LSU, the junior was the only Monarch to secure a point after winning her singles match in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Then against Penn, Pilkington clinched ODU’s ninth victory of the season after downing OJ Singh, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
Pilkington and the No. 29 nationally ranked Monarchs will return to action on Saturday, March 2 at 1:00 p.m., when ODU hosts Memphis. Then on Sunday, March 3, Old Dominion will welcome West Virginia for a 10:00 a.m. start. Both matches will be held at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center and admission for all is free.
