Wayne Named National Freshman of the Week

ST. LOUIS -- Following a pair of stat-sheet-stuffing performances this past week, Old Dominion guard Ajah Wayne has been tabbed as the National Freshman of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, the organization announced on Tuesday evening.

Wayne averaged 17.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4.0 steals in two games this past week, including a 70-65 win over second-place Middle Tennessee. The Birmingham, Alabama, native opened the week with an 18-point performance against UAB and then scored 17 points to go along with eight rebounds and five assists in the victory over MTSU. She also held the Lady Raiders' leading scorer, A'Queen Hayes, to just six points on 1-of-9 shooting.

In addition to the national honor, Wayne also picked up her third Conference USA Freshman of the Week accolade of the season on Monday.
