IRVING, Texas -- For the third time this season, Old Dominion guard Ajah Wayne has been named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week, as announced by league officials on Monday.
Wayne averaged 17.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4.0 steals in two games this past week, including a 70-65 win over second-place Middle Tennessee.
The Birmingham, Alabama, native opened the week with an 18-point performance against UAB and then scored 17 points to go along with eight rebounds and five assists in the victory over MTSU. She also held the Lady Raiders' leading scorer, A'Queen Hayes, to just six points on 1-of-9 shooting.
Wayne was also named the C-USA Freshman of the Week on Nov. 19 and Nov. 12. For the season, Wayne is averaging 11.7 points, a team-leading 8.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals.
