NORFOLK, Va. -- Riding a six-game winning streak, the Old Dominion women's basketball team has a big road trip at North Texas and Rice this weekend. ODU first takes on North Texas on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET and then Rice on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.
Thursday's game against North Texas will be streamed on beIN Sports and aired on Famous 1310 AM and 97.3 FM HD-2. Then, Saturday's contest at league leader Rice will be on ESPN+ and ESPN 94.1 FM. Doug Ripley will be on the radio call.
Old Dominion has won six straight, its longest winning streak since 2013-14, and is off to the best 20-game start since 2007-08. At 6-2, ODU is also off to its best start in Conference USA play since joining the league in 2013-14.
Individually, Victoria Morris (12.8pts), Taylor Edwards (11.4pts/4.7asts) and Ajah Wayne (11.4pts/8.8rebs) are all averaging double figures for the Monarchs, who are outscoring opponents by nearly 20 points per game during the six-game win streak.
In conference play, Amari Young (8.2pts/6.4rebs) has emerged as a scoring threat. The freshman from South Carolina is averaging 11.3 points in C-USA games.
Overall, nine different players have reached double figures in scoring at least once, while eight different players have led the team in scoring.
ODU is 7-4 on the road this season, including a 5-3 mark in true road games. On their last road trip two weekends ago, the Monarchs recorded victories over LA Tech and Southern Miss.
ABOUT NORTH TEXAS (10-9, 3-4)
North Texas has lost four straight after opening conference play with three straight wins. The Mean Green is 6-3 at home and Terriell Bradley (17.6pts/4.4rebs) is the team's top offensive threat. SERIES HISTORY: ODU is 6-4 all-time against UNT, but the Mean Green has won the last two meetings.
ABOUT RICE (16-3, 7-0)
Rice the lone undefeated team remaining in Conference USA play. The Owls have won eight straight and are receiving votes in the latest AP Top 25. Rice is led by Erica Ogwumike (16.2pts/10.2rebs) and 6-9 transfer Nancy Mulkey (12.9pts/4.1blks). SERIES HISTORY: ODU leads the all-time series, 7-3.
