NORFOLK, Va. --
The Old Dominion women's basketball team begins Conference USA play this weekend with road contests at Marshall and Western Kentucky. ODU first takes on Marshall on Thursday at 6 p.m. ET and then WKU on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.

Both games will be streamed on CUSA.tv and also aired locally on the ODU Sports Radio Network featuring commentary from Doug Ripley. Thursday's game against Marshall will air on Famous 1310 and Saturday's contest at WKU will air on ESPN 94.1.

The Monarchs have put together quite the turnaround in their second year under head coach Nikki McCray, as ODU has already eclipsed its win total from all of last season (8).

ODU is averaging 71.2 points per game, while committing just 13.5 turnovers per game, which ranks in the top 20 nationally.

All three starting guards are averaging 12+ points per game for the Monarchs, led by true freshman Ajah Wayne, who is averaging 12.9 points and 9.4 rebounds. Taylor Edwards is averaging 12.5 points and Victoria Morris is averaging 12.2 points. For the season, nine of the 11 active players on the roster have reached double figures at least once.

The Monarchs are 5-2 away from home this season, with the lone losses coming to No. 13 NC State and to Saint Mary's in the Tulane Classic Championship.

ABOUT MARSHALL (6-7, 0-0)
The Thundering Herd are 6-2 at home this season and are one of the top three-point shooting teams in the conference with 7.7 made threes per game. Marshall finished last in C-USA last season at 3-13, but returned three starters, including star guard Shayna Gore, who is fourth in the league in scoring with 18.4 points per game. SERIES HISTORY: ODU leads the all-time series, 6-3. The Monarchs have won four straight against the Herd, including a 69-53 win in Norfolk last year.

ABOUT WKU (6-8, 0-0)
The Lady Toppers have been the class of Conference USA the past six seasons, winning four conference titles during that span, but are in a transition year under first-year head coach Greg Collins. Michelle Clark-Heard departed for Cincinnati and WKU also lost all-conference performers Ivy Brown and Tashia Brown to graduation. Dee Givens is the team's leading scorer this season with 18.4 points per game. SERIES HISTORY: WKU leads the all-time series, 15-8, and ODU has never defeated the Lady Toppers as C-USA opponents (0-8).
