NORFOLK, Va. – Iris Achterhof was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-American Division I Women’s Soccer Second Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), as announced Thursday afternoon. Achterhof is the first ODU student-athlete to earn the honor since Alex Loughton (men’s basketball) earned the honor in 2006.

“I am thrilled for Iris,” said ODU head coach Angie Hind. “She has shown consistently over her four years here how dedicated a student-athlete she is. Every year she has been recognized as one of the top players in our conference and every year she has excelled just as highly in the classroom. That’s impressive when you can achieve that level of consistency. She is part of a graduating class that has established the culture we are so very proud of and strive to maintain as a women’s soccer program. I can speak on behalf of our coaching staff by saying we are very proud of all Iris has brought to ODU and how she has represented herself, our program and our University. A huge congratulations to her.”
