NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's basketball team renews its rivalry with former CAA foe William & Mary on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET at the Ted Constant Center.
The game will be streamed on CUSA.tv and aired locally on ESPN 94.1 radio, featuring commentary from Doug Ripley and Susan Montgomery.
Old Dominion is coming off of a tough loss at No. 13 NC State last Sunday. Both of ODU's losses have come to Power-5 opponents, with the other defeat coming to Virginia.
Behind an uptempo offense, the Monarchs are scoring 72.6 points per game, a nearly 20-point increase from last season. ODU is also taking care of the basketball, committing just 12.3 turnovers per game, which ranks 13th in the nation. On the other side, William & Mary is forcing 20 turnovers per game, which ranks 61st in the country.
Individually, Victoria Morris leads the team in scoring at 14.4 points per game, while Ajah Wayne is one of just four freshmen in the nation averaging a double-double. Wayne is averaging 14.0 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Taylor Edwards, who ranks 44th in the nation in assists with 5.3 per game, is the third Monarch averaging double figures at 10.9 points.
ODU is 1-1 against schools from the Commonwealth of Virginia this season with a win over Norfolk State and loss to UVA.
ABOUT WILLIAM & MARY
The Tribe enter Saturday on a two-game winning streak that included wins over Fairfield and Richmond. William & Mary is a strong defensive team, holding opponents to 59 points per game. In the last three games, the Tribe are also forcing 26 turnovers per game. Offensively, senior guard Bianca Boggs leads the team with 15.5 points per game.
SERIES HISTORY
ODU leads the all-time series, 56-7. From 1974 to 2011, the Monarchs had a 52-game winning streak against the Tribe. However, William & Mary has won five of the last eight matchups.
