NORFOLK, Va. – Ahmad Caver of the Old Dominion men’s basketball team was named the Conference USA Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, as announced by league officials. This is the fourth consecutive week an ODU player has won the weekly award, marking just the second time this feat has ever been accomplished and the first time since 2005, when Charlotte had a group do it. This is the first Player of the Week Award for Caver's career.

Caver led Old Dominion to two more victories, while averaging 20.0 points, 8.0 assists, 1.5 rebounds, 1.0 steal and 0.5 block per game at Richmond and against Morgan State. Caver and the Monarchs have now won eight straight games. For the season, Caver leads the Monarchs in scoring, assists and steals. Old Dominion ends 2018 with a 10-3 record and victories over No. 25 Syracuse, VCU, Northern Iowa, James Madison, William & Mary, Richmond and Navy.

Last week, Caver’s teammate, B.J. Stith, was named the C-USA Player of the Week for the third consecutive week, marking only the second time in league history that someone has accomplished a three-peat, with the first being ODU’s Trey Freeman in 2016.

Caver and the Monarchs will return to action on Thursday. Jan. 3, when Old Dominion hosts Marshall at the Ted Constant Convocation Center for a 7:00 p.m. on Stadium.
