NEW ORLEANS -- Behind one of its best defensive performances of the season, the Old Dominion women's basketball team defeated Tulane, 56-48, on Friday afternoon at Devlin Fieldhouse in New Orleans.
The Monarchs (8-2) now have as many wins as they had all of last year.
ODU will play Saint Mary's (CA) tomorrow in the Tulane Classic championship game at 3 p.m. ET. The Gaels defeated Texas State, 89-62, on Friday.
The Monarchs held Tulane (7-3) to a season low in scoring, as ODU forced 23 Green Wave turnovers and held Tulane to 33 percent shooting from the field.
Perhaps the biggest defensive play of the game came from Maggie Robinson, when she rejected a Tulane layup with 22 seconds remaining and ODU ahead 50-46.
