WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Old Dominion field hockey juniors Rebecca Birch and Erin Huffman each received yet another accolade for their standout 2018 seasons, as both players were named to VaSID All-State Teams, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Birch, a back from the United Kingdom, landed on the VaSID All-State First Team. She led ODU in goals and scoring from her center back position. Birch scored 10 goals and added three assists for 23 points and also helped the Monarchs post five shutouts defensively.
Huffman, a midfielder from Pennsylvania, earned Second Team honors. Huffman had nine goals and four assists in 2018. Her 22 points ranked second on the team. She also scored five game-winning goals, which led the Big East during the regular season.
