NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's basketball team moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 69-53 victory over Norfolk State in the 2018-19 home opener on Friday evening at the Ted Constant Center.

Old Dominion (2-0) never trailed and used a 14-0 run in the fourth quarter to pull away for the double-digit win. ODU held Norfolk State (0-2) to 32 percent shooting, marking the second consecutive game that the Monarchs have held their opponent under 60 points and under 40 percent from the field.

Offensively, Portsmouth native Taylor Edwards led four Monarchs in double figures with a game-high 15 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists.

True freshman Ajah Wayne recorded her first career double-double with 14 points and 10 boards, while Victoria Morris added 14 points and Maggie Robinson had 11 points and eight rebounds.

"We had a good crowd tonight and it definitely gave us a home-court advantage. Tonight, I wasn't surprised about our rough start, because I knew at some point we were going to get a flow with our defense and be able to open up the game a little bit." - Coach McCray

For the second straight game, ODU also had a positive assist-to-turnover ratio (16-15).

Up next, Old Dominion heads to Cincinnati for a showdown with the Bearcats on Monday at 7 p.m. ET.
