NORFOLK, Va. –
The Old Dominion men’s basketball team will tipoff the 2018-19 regular season at home against Navy on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. The game will air on C-USA TV and the ODU Sports Radio Network.

In the Monarchs only exhibition, Old Dominion downed Virginia Wesleyan by an 83-54 score. Ahmad Caver led the way with 28 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals. Caver went 3-5 from deep and 13-17 from the free-throw line on his way to a game-high in points.

Navy is coming off a 20-12 season last year and went 11-7 in Patriot League play (tied for third). The Midshipmen were picked to finish eighth in conference play in the league’s preseason poll. Head coach Ed DeChellis will begin his eighth season at the helm in Annapolis on Tuesday night in Norfolk.

ODU’s 25-7 overall record and second place finish (15-3) in Conference USA last season was the third time in the last four years with 25 or more victories. Caver was named to the All-Conference USA First Team and All-Defensive Team. B.J. Stith was named to the All-League Third Team. Both Caver and Stith return this year for their senior campaigns and were named team captains in the offseason.

ODU’s 96 wins over the past four seasons under head coach Jeff Jones ranks third for most victories in a four-year span in school history (87 years). The 96 wins over the past four seasons also ranks 27th in the country.

Jones and the Monarchs rank second in Conference USA for most overall wins in past four years with a 96-40 (70.6%) record. In the past four seasons, Jones is 52-20 in conference play for a winning percentage of 72.2% and ranks second in the conference for most C-USA wins in past four years.
