NORFOLK, Va. – For the 84th time, the Old Dominion men’s basketball team (4-3) will take on James Madison (6-3) on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. Saturday night’s game will stream on ESPN+ and air on the ODU Radio Sports Network, with Ted Alexander and Dave Twardzik’s pregame show starting at 6:30 p.m. The Monarchs own a 57-26 advantage in the all-time series with the Dukes.

THE MONARCHS
ODU’s defense ranks 11th in country for scoring defense (57.4) and 14th in the nation for field-goal percentage defense (36.8%). The Monarchs turn the ball over just 10 times per contest, which ranks 14th in the NCAA.

Ahmad Caver is averaging 18.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Fellow senior captain, B.J. Stith, is going for 14.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.3 assists per outing.

LAST GAME
Old Dominion is coming off a 62-52 victory over VCU on Wednesday night, in a game that the Monarchs trailed by as many 17 at the Ted.

ODU’s defense held VCU to 27.3% (6-22) shooting from the floor in the second half and 0.0% (0-9) from deep in the final 20 minutes.

Stith poured in a game-high 21 points to go along with five rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block. Caver followed with 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and one block. Xavier Green finished with nine points, six rebounds and two assists. Jason Wade chipped in seven points, seven rebounds, one block and one steal.

JAMES MADISON
The Dukes enter Saturday night’s game in Norfolk with a 6-3 record, with wins over Eastern Mennonite (86-58), East Carolina (73-72), Bridgewater (82-59), Charlotte (64-59), Northern Illinois (78-74) and Coppin State (81-71 - OT). JMU suffered losses to The Citadel (91-82), Oakland (77-69) and Oral Roberts (78-69 – OT).

James Madison has three players averaging double-figures: Stuckey Mosley (16.7), Darius Banks (16.1) and Matt Lewis (13.6).

Head coach Louis Rowe is in the midst of his third season at the helm in Harrisonburg; he has compiled a 26-48 record.
