GILBERT, Ariz. -- Erin Huffman and Rebecca Birch of Old Dominion field hockey have both been named to NFHCA All-Region teams, the organization announced on Monday.
Huffman was named First Team All-South Region, while Birch was named to the Second Team.
Huffman, a junior midfielder from Pennsylvania, had nine goals and four assists in 2018. Her 22 points ranked second on the team. Huffman also scored five game-winning goals, which led the Big East during the regular season.
Birch, a junior back from the United Kingdom, led ODU in goals and scoring from her center back position. The United Kingdom scored 10 goals and also recorded three assists for 23 points. Birch also helped the Monarchs post five shutouts defensively.
For Huffman, it is her second consecutive All-Region honor after she was named to the Second Team last year. For Birch, it is the first of her career.
The South Region features some of the top talent in the nation with teams such as national champion North Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest, Virginia and Liberty.
