NORFOLK, Va. --
The Old Dominion women's basketball team looks to extend its season-opening unbeaten streak to four on Sunday against Virginia at 2 p.m. ET at the Ted Constant Center.

The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and also aired locally on Famous 1310 AM radio with Ted Alexander and Susan Montgomery on the call.

At 3-0, Old Dominion is off to its best start since 2012-13. The Monarchs are averaging 76.0 points per game, a 20-point increase over last year's 54.6. Defensively, ODU has held their opponent under 40 percent shooting from the field in all three games.

True freshman Ajah Wayne is averaging a double-double with 20.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. She is one of just two freshmen in the nation averaging 20 and 10. Veteran guards Victoria Morris and Taylor Edwards are also averaging double figures for the Monarchs. Morris is averaging 16.7 and Edwards is averaging 13.7.

The ODU program has several links to Virginia. Head coach Nikki McCray-Penson and first-year UVA head coach Tina Thompson were teammates on Team USA in the late 90s and won a gold medal together at the 1998 World Cup. In addition, ODU strength coach Kelsey Wolfe played for Virginia from 2010 to 2014. Wolfe scored 758 points in her UVA career.

ABOUT VIRGINIA
Virginia has opened the season with a pair of losses to SEC schools. UVA fell to No. 6 Mississippi State, 72-44, in the opener and then lost at Kentucky, 63-51, on Thursday night. Point guard Domonique Toussaint leads the team offensively with 12.0 points and 3.0 assists per game, while 6-9 center Felicia Aiyeotan is averaging 6.0 points and 14.5 rebounds.

SERIES HISTORY
ODU leads the all-time series, 19-14. The teams last met in 2015, when the Monarchs defeated Virginia, 69-62, in the opening round of the WNIT.
