NORFOLK, Va. --
Monarch Nation can get their first glimpse of the 2018-19 Old Dominion women's basketball team in action on Friday, as the Monarchs host Christopher Newport in an exhibition at the Ted Constant Center at 6:30 p.m. ET.

The game will not be streamed or aired on radio, but fans can follow @ODUWBB on Twitter for in-game updates. Tickets are $5 on YNotTix.com.

Head coach Nikki McCray-Penson returns three players from last year's squad and welcomes in nine newcomers, including six true freshmen and three junior college transfers. With an average age of 19.33, the Monarchs are tied for sixth-youngest team in the nation.

Junior guard Taylor Edwards and sophomores Victoria Morris and Dejah Carter headline the returners from last year's squad.

Morris led the team in scoring last season with 11.0 points per game en route to Conference USA All-Freshman Team honors. She became the first freshman to lead ODU in scoring since Celeste Hill in 1990-91. Her fellow backcourt mate Edwards also had a breakout season in 2017-18. The Portsmouth native averaged 7.6 points and a team-leading 6.0 rebounds. She also led the team with three double-doubles.

Christopher Newport is ranked No. 20 in the D3Hoops.com Preseason Top 25. The Captains ended last season with a 25-5 overall record and a return trip to the NCAA DIII Sweet 16.
