Birch, Huffman Named to All-Big East First Team

NEW YORK -- Old Dominion juniors Rebecca Birch and Erin Huffman were both named to the All-Big East First Team, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Birch led ODU in goals and scoring from her center back position in 2018. The United Kingdom scored 10 goals and also recorded three assists for 23 points. Birch also helped the Monarchs post five shutouts defensively. It is the first all-conference honor for Birch in her ODU career. 

Huffman lands on the All-Big East First Team for the second consecutive season. The Pennsylvania native ranked second on ODU in points with 22 on nine goals and four assists. Huffman also scored a league-best five game-winning goals.

The Monarchs posted a 10-7 record in 2018, including three wins over ranked teams and a 9-1 record in games away from home.
