NORFOLK, Va. --
The 25th-ranked Old Dominion field hockey team hosts Villanova and No. 1 North Carolina in the final games of the regular season this weekend at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.

On Friday at noon, the Monarchs and Villanova meet with a Big East Tournament bid on the line. ODU then takes on the top-ranked Tar Heels on Sunday at noon. Sunday will also be Senior Day. Amie Olton, Kristie Robles, Kealsie Robles and Kristen Vick will all be honored in a pregame ceremony.

Friday's contest against Villanova will decide the fourth and final spot for next weekend's Big East Tournament. The seeding scenarios for ODU include:
- With win & Providence loss to Liberty, ODU will be No. 3 seed and play No. 2 Liberty in first round
- With win & Providence win against Liberty, ODU will be No. 4 seed and play No. 1 UConn in first round
- With loss, ODU does not make tournament and Villanova will be No. 4 seed

Sunday's game against UNC will be the 24th time in program history that the Monarchs have played against a No. 1-ranked team. ODU is 7-16 all-time against top-ranked teams.

The Monarchs enter the weekend on a three-game winning streak and have outscored their opponents 13-1 during that stretch. Individually, Rebecca Birch and Erin Huffman lead the team in scoring with 23 and 22 points, respectively.

ABOUT VILLANOVA
