AKRON, Ohio -- The Old Dominion men's golf team, behind a top-10 finish from Calvin Greschner, tied for eighth at the Firestone Intercollegiate this week at Akron's Firestone Country Club.
Greschner (-3) tied for seventh individually, while Carter Morgan and Michael Bakker also registered top-20 finishes. Morgan (-1) tied for 12th and Bakker (E) tied for 17th.
As a team, the Monarchs (+8) finished in a tie for eighth with Temple and Ball State in the 17-team field. ODU posted its best round during Monday's second with a 9-under 279, which was the second-best round by an team during the 54-hole event.
Rounding out ODU's lineup were Gustav Fransson and Douglas Rios-Ceballos. Fransson (+12) tied for 67th and Rios-Ceballos (+14) tied for 73rd.
Akron (-7), the host, won the event, while Zach Crawford (-10) of Ohio grabbed individual medalist honors.
Up next, the Monarchs host the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate at Kilmarlic Golf Club Oct. 21-23.
