NORFOLK, Va. – Emily Roberts (Severn, Md.) of the Old Dominion women’s soccer team was named the Conference USA Defender of the Week, as announced by league officials on Monday afternoon.
Roberts has now anchored Old Dominion’s defense to 412 consecutive shutout minutes, as the Monarchs have not lost a match since Sept. 28. Roberts and ODU have pitched four straight shutouts while climbing the league ladder. On the road against the top team in the conference FAU (5-0-0), Roberts’ defense didn’t allow a single goal for 110 minutes against the Owls. Against fourth place UAB, Roberts’ backline only surrendered a total of three shots in 90 minutes of action.
Roberts and Old Dominion will head to Texas this week for a pair of league matches on the road. On Thursday, Oct. 18, the Monarchs will take on UTSA in San Antonio, before traveling to El Paso for Sunday, Oct. 21 showdown against UTEP.

With a $25 purchase of the 2018 Soccer Voucher book, fans receive 20 ticket vouchers that can be used in any combination to gain entry to any women's (or men’s) regular season game at the ODU Soccer Complex.
The vouchers can be redeemed in any quantity and represent a 75% savings over purchasing general admission tickets at the gate. In addition to entry to the games, the first 200 fans that purchase their ticket voucher books will receive an ODU soccer scarf.
