CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Francois Musitelli, Jannik Giesse, Luca Maldoner and Oliver Tobisch of the Old Dominion men’s tennis team commenced the 2018 fall season at the Harvard Chowder. Giesse and Maldoner teamed up to win the flight two doubles title, while Musitelli was the flight two singles runner-up. Harvard, Texas Tech and Indiana all sent players to compete in Cambridge, Mass.

“We got exactly what we came for this weekend,” said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. “We had a lot of matches against high quality competition. Three out of the four teams competing here made the NCAA tournament last year and that caliber of competition will prepare us for the long season. It was great for our freshmen to see the intensity of college tennis and what it takes to compete on the highest level. It's early in the season and we learned a lot about our games. I was positively surprised how well we already played in doubles. Jannik and Luca really showed up as a team and they seemed to have fun together which is important in our short doubles format. I'm glad we came home with one title.”

Next up for the Monarchs will be the Oracle Masters (Sept. 20-23) in Malibu, Cali. and the Elon Invitational (Sept. 21-23).
