NEW YORK -- Following a three-goal performance in the win over Providence, Rebecca Birch has been named the Big East Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Birch also added an assist in the 6-1 victory over the Friars in the Big East Opener. The U.K. native currently ranks second on the team in scoring with 11 points on five goals and an assist and has been a key reason for ODU's 7-0 start to the season.

Birch is the now fourth Monarch to pick up a Big East weekly award already this season, joining Merle Knobloch (Freshman, Sept. 10), Kristen Vick (Defensive, Sept. 3) and Ilse Westera (Freshman, Sept. 3).

In addition, Erin Huffman was named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll. Huffman scored two goals and added an assist against Providence.
