Where Are They Now?Wondering where your favorite Monarchs are now that their career at Old Dominion is complete? ODUSports.com plans to have a “Where Are They Now”? segment each Friday leading up to Saturday's game.
Four years after he played his last game for Old Dominion, Taylor Heinicke still holds 33 school records. Of course there are passing records, total yards records, but his record for highest punting average of 47.20 on 14 punts his senior year, stands out.
Henicke started for the Carolina Panthers last night in their final preseason game of the year, completing 7-of-12 passes for 68 yards and a touchdown. Beginning his fourth year in the NFL, Heinicke is with his fourth team, also featuring stops in Minnesota, New England and Houston.
Heinicke's ODU career saw him put up video game like numbers, completing 1,238 passes, passing for 14,959 yards and 132 touchdowns. He currently ranks fourth in Division I in career total offense, behind only Case Keenum (Houston), Timmy Chang (Hawaii) and Steve McNair (Alcorn State).
The signal caller put himself on the map with his Walter Payton Award Season of 2012 when he led the country in passing yards, TD passes, total touchdowns, total offense and points responsible for.?
