NORFOLK, Va. – Women's golf head coach Mallory Hetzel released the 2018-2019 schedule Wednesday morning. The Monarchs will compete in four fall events and five spring events this year. Their fall season is highlighted by their home tournament, the Princess Anne Invitational.

Last season, Hetzel guided the Monarchs to their second-straight NCAA Regional appearance. The program lost two significant players to graduation in Maggie Simmeramcher and Katerina Vlasinova.
ODU will open the season at the Golfweek Program Challenge in Pawley’s Island, S.C. from September 9-11. Assistant coach Rachel Walker won the individual trophy in 2014 after posting rounds of 75-68-69.
“The Golfweek Program Challenge is a fun event that combines the men’s and women’s team scores to crown a champion," said Hetzel. "Caledonia is a wonderful golf course and a great place to start the year."
In their second event of the fall, the Monarchs trek north to compete in Michigan State’s Mary Fossum Invitational. Michigan State is host to one of the 2019 NCAA regional sites.
"After being placed in that region the last two years we thought it would be smart to preview the golf course we will be playing in May. The field is understandably very strong and a great chance for us to see some of the best teams in the country.”
ODU then closes September as they compete in the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman University.
"Furman University Golf Course is one the best university courses in the country. I played the state championship there in high school and I look forward to returning. Hopefully, I can pass along some good memories and course knowledge to our players."
ODU closes the fall as they host the Princess Anne Invitational, which is their first home tournament since 2005. For more on the Princess Anne Invitational, stay informed on odusports.com for a separate release on the ODU hosted event.
"We are thrilled to be bringing a prominent national event to the Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach. We have a strong field from all over the country and we are looking forward to the opportunity to play a home game."
The spring season opens in February as the Monarchs have back-to-back tournaments in Florida at the UCF Challenge and the Moon Golf Invitational hosted by Louisville. To open March, the Monarchs compete in the River Landing Classic hosted by UNCW. ODU closes the regular season at the Briar’s Creek Invitational and the Brickyard Collegiate.
Out of the five spring events this season, the Monarchs played in four of those same events last season. ODU was runner-up at the Louisville Moon Golf Invitations and Brickyard Invitational. The Monarchs claimed first place at the UNF Collegiate, which is not on their schedule this year.
Following the Brickyard Collegiate, the Monarchs gear up for the C-USA Championship at the Verandah Club, which runs from April 15-17. The NCAA Regional is set for May 6-8 at different course sites.
