Harper, Ximines Named 2018 Football Captains

NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University President John R. Broderick announced at his annual State of the University address that Oshane Ximines and Isaiah Harper will be captains for the 2018 ODU football team. Broderick recognized head coach Bobby Wilder, Harper and Ximines during his address, before jokingly telling the trio to get back to practice.

“Isaiah Harper and Oshane Ximines represent our Aim high philosophy of good person, good student, and good athlete,” Wilder said. “We are all excited and proud that they are leading our team in 2018.”

Ximines, a captain last season, broke the ODU single-season record with 8.5 sacks last season and is second among active FBS players with 21 sacks. He earned first-team All-Conference USA honors.

Harper finished 10th in the FBS last season with a 29.1 yard kick return average and led the Monarchs in receiving with 39 receptions for 462 years. He earned first-team All-C-USA honors and was the conference Special Teams Player of the Year.

Harper and Ximines will be permanent captains and be joined by two teammates on a game-by-game basis.
