NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s soccer team (1-0-1) will host Towson (0-2-0) on Thursday, Aug. Aug. 23 at 7:00 p.m. The Monarchs will then welcome Appalachian State (1-1-0) on Sunday, Aug. 26 for a 5:00 p.m. start. Both games will be held at the ODU Soccer Complex and will stream live on C-USA TV.
ODU is most recently coming off a 3-0 victory over Mount St. Mary’s on Sunday night. Morgan Hall, Kira Laurento and Iris Achterhof were the goalscorers on Sunday, while Madison Morningstar and Achterhof were credited with an assist.
On Friday night, Laurento scored in the sixth minute to give ODU an early 1-0 lead, but an ECU goal in the 48th minute ultimately ended the match in a 1-1 draw.
Laurento was named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. Lauento, a senior captain from Coatesville, Pa., leads the team in points with four after scoring two goals on three attempted shots in the opening two matches of the 2018 season.
Towson will enter Thursday’s match with a 0-2-0 record after 2-1 losses at South Florida and Stetson.
Appalachian State is currently on 1-1-0 after dropping the opener 4-0 to High Point and then taking down Campbell, 3-0. Before coming to Norfolk, the Mountaineers will square-off against Maryland in College Park, Md. on Friday, Aug. 24 at 7:00 p.m.
Sunday Dog Days
Sundays are “Dog Days” at all home matches this year for Old Dominion women’s soccer. The Sunday Dog Days promotion will allow fans to bring their dogs, on a leash, to any soccer match that takes place on a Sunday. There is no charge for bringing a dog.
During soccer games, dogs will be allowed on the grass area on the south and east sides of the ODU Soccer Complex. For field hockey, fans can utilize the grass area near the concession stand. In addition, ODU Athletics will set up bowls of water around each facility to make sure your pets stay hydrated during the sporting event.
