NORFOLK, Va. – In a night that consisted of two weather delays, the ODU women's soccer team (1-0-1) shutout Mount St. Mary’s by a final score of 3-0. Goals by Morgan Hall, Kira Laurento, and Iris Achterhof led the Monarchs to their first win of the season.

"They made it really tough for us, said head coach Angie Hind. "We came back out and gained some momentum and I think that's fantastic how we played the last 20 mintues."

Scoring began in the 42nd minute by Hall off a Morningstar pass. After play resumed from an hour and a half weather delay, the Monarchs came out to score two more goals before time expired. In the 80th minute, Kira Laurento tallied her second goal of the season off a pass from Achterhof. Just six minutes later, Achterhof took a shot from deep that sailed over the keepers head to notch the Monarchs third and final goal of the game.

Monarch goalkeepers Erin Davidson and Jasmine Crawley split time in the net.

ODU outshot the Mountaineers, 19-5.

The Monarchs welcome Towson to the ODU Soccer Complex this Thursday for a 7 p.m. start.
