IRVING, Texas – Old Dominion women’s golfer Maggie Simmermacher was named Conference USA’s Women’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year as announced by the organization Thursday afternoon.
The C-USA Scholar Athlete of the Year awards are presented to the top student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport, determined by a votes of the league’s 14 FARs. The award is based on academic achievement (GPA), athletic achievement and service.
Simmermacher excelled on the course and in the classroom, averaging a 73.8 stroke average and a 3.56 GPA. She graduated with a degree in international business and minored in economics. The Argentina native was named 2018 C-USA Player of the Year, named to the first team all conference and tabbed four all-conference honors.
Recently, Simmermacher was named to the VaSID All-State Team.
