Chad Hess Named DI All-America Scholar

NORMAN, Okla. -- Old Dominion men's golfer Chad Hess has been named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Wednesday.

The honor is awarded to an individual who is a junior or senior academically, competed in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participated in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, had a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintained a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Hess, who was also the male recipient of ODU's Broderick Award and Conference USA's Postgraduate Scholarship Award, graduated with a 3.82 GPA with a degree in interdisciplinary studies - teacher prep. He has also volunteered for such organizations as the Monarchs Champion Program and is a youth bible study leader and volunteer soccer coach.

A native of Orefield, Pennsylvania, Hess competed in all nine events during his senior campaign, with a score average of 74.0. Hess posted the best finish of his career at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate, where he tied for second, finishing the tournament 7-under.
