Lacrosse on IWLCA Academic Honor Squad, Tabs Five Monarchs on Honor Roll

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion lacrosse team was named to the 2018 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Squad. Five lacrosse Monarchs in Cydney Tutchton, Natalie Ledwitz, Alyssa Sebesto, Katie Miller, and Kerri Caruso were named to the IWLCA 2018 Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll as announced by the organization Monday afternoon.

313 schools throughout Division I, II III, and NAIA have made the requirements in order to qualify for the team award, a 3.0 or higher team GPA for this academic year is mandatory. This is the lacrosse team’s fifth straight year earning the team award.

In order to qualify for the IWLCA 2018 Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll, a player must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. This year, the IWLCA named 429 student-athletes on this team. The Monarch lacrosse team has not seen five players on this academic honor roll since the 2015 season.

Tutchton graduated with a 4.0 GPA after studying biology. Among her accolades include ASUN Scholar Athlete of the Year, ODU’s Alumni Association’s Outstanding Student in Biology, ODU’s Outstanding Biology Student of the Year, and ODU’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She finished her career with 78 goals, 21 assists, and 99 points. 

Ledwitz joins the IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll squad.The human services major finished her career with 44 goals, seven assists, and 51 points. 

Rising seniors Sebesto, Miller, and Caruso also earned spots on the team. Sebesto a criminal justice major finished her season with 31 groundballs, 16 draw controls, and 25 caused turnovers. An accounting major, Miller posted 14 groundballs, 50 draw controls, and 14 caused turnovers as a midfielder. Caruso finished the 2018 season nationally ranked in caused turnovers tallying 44. Caruso was also nominated to the ASUN All-Academic Team with Tutchton.
