IRVING, Texas -- Conference USA announced that Old Dominion University men’s golfer Chad Hess was one of 14 winners of the Conference USA Spring Spirit of Service Award.

The C-USA Spirit of Service Award is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league's student-athletes, based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport.

A native of Orefield, Pennsylvania, Hess was the male recipient of the Broderick Award, given to the best all-around student-athlete at ODU. He competed in all nine events during his senior campaign, with a score average of 74.0. Hess posted the best finish of his career at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate, where he tied for second, finishing the tournament 7-under.

Hess graduated with a 3.82 GPA with a degree in interdisciplinary studies - teacher prep. He has also volunteered for such organizations as the Monarchs Champion Program and is a youth bible study leader and volunteer soccer coach.
