NORFOLK, Va. – Adam Moundir of the ODU men’s tennis team was named the ITA Atlantic Region Senior Player of the Year, while teammate Vincent Schneider was named the ITA Most Improved Senior for the Atlantic Region.
Moundir, a two-time Conference USA Player of the Year, was previously named to the All-Conference USA Singles First Team and All-Conference USA Doubles Second Team earlier in the month. Hecompiled an 18-13 season record, 14-7 in dual matches in No. 1 singles and had two ranked wins. He went 4-0 against Conference USA opponents and entered the NCAA Tournament on an eight-match winning streak.
In his one semester in Norfolk, Schneider was named the C-USA Newcomer of the Year, Outstanding Singles Player of the C-USA Championship, All-Conference USA Singles Second Team and Outstanding Doubles Team of the C-USA Championship.
Schneider only played for the Monarchs in the spring and compiled an 18-4 record, mostly playing at position No. 3. He went 5-0 versus Conference USA opponents in singles and 4-1 against them in doubles. He was the Conference USA Athlete of the Week once this season and finished the year on a 13-match winning streak with his last loss dating back to Feb. 25. Schneider won all his three singles matches at the Conference USA Tournament in straight sets, only losing 16 games in those three matches.
