LEXINGTON, Va. -- For the second time this season, Old Dominion head coach Chris Finwood will coach against his son, Grey, when the Monarchs take on VMI on Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET at Gray-Minor Stadium.
Earlier this season, Old Dominion defeated the Keydets, 19-4, on March 14 in Norfolk. In the win, the Monarchs posted season highs in runs and hits with 24.
Hunter Gregory, who will start on the mound for ODU, earned the win in the March 14 victory, allowing one run in five innings of work. At the plate, Matt Schwarz and Brian Morley both had three-hit days, while Vinnie Pasquantino, who is currently sidelined with a back injury, tied a school record with six hits.
The contest at VMI begins a four-game road trip for the Monarchs, who then travel to Charleston, West Virginia, to take on Marshall in a weekend series at Appalachian Power Park.
The Monarchs are 3-5 in midweek games this season and 3-4 against schools from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Against VMI, Old Dominion leads the all-time series, 46-12.
