NORFOLK, Va. – In their final non-conference game, the Old Dominion (5-11, 2-2 ASUN) lacrosse team fell to Detroit Mercy (9-7, 3-2 SoCon) by a final score of 18-14 on Sunday afternoon. Glory Johnson tallied four goals. The Titans outscored ODU 8-1 in the second half.
Detroit got out to a two-goal lead to start the game. The Monarchs answered with three goals by Brooke Stein, Cydney Tutchton and Johnson. Scoring continued to switch back and forth and the Monarchs took the 13-10 lead heading into the second half.
Claire Porter, Natalie Ledwitz, Hanna Breslin and Lauren Irvine also contributed to the scoring efforts during the first half.
The Titans opened the second half by scoring five goals. Irvine tallied one more for the Monarchs before Detroit added three straight goals.
Johnson tallied seven draw controls and Tutchton added four.
Defensively, Lauren Ey notched eight saves and Kerri Caruso earned four caused turnovers. Caruso now has 31 caused turnovers this season. Caruso also tallied four groundballs, while Alyssa Sebesto notched two.
