Lacrosse Drops 19-15 Contest to CMU

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion lacrosse (5-10, 2-2 ASUN) team fell to CMU (10-5, 4-0 SoCon) by a 19-15 final score on Friday afternoon at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex. Glory Johnson and Brooke Stein both net four goals each. 

The Monarchs got out to a hot start with three-straight goals by three separate student-athletes. Cydney Tutchton, Sophia Richie, and Stein all tallied the goals before CMU answered with three of their own.

Scoring continued to go back and forth throughout the first half of play. 

ODU and CMU were tied 9-9 at the end of the first frame of play. The Monarchs outshot the Chips, 20-16 at the half.

CMU opened up scoring in the second half. Tutchton answered before the Chippewas notched five back-to-back goals to take the 15-10 lead with less than 19 minutes left to play.

Johnson and Stein each tallied a goal to close the deficit to 15-12. 

CMU tallied four more goals before second half play was completed. Tutchton, Stein and Johnson each notched one more goal, but it was not enough to rally past the Chips of CMU.

Claire Porter, MK Maloney, Natalie Ledwitz, and Johnson all tallied assists in the scoring efforts.

Defensively, Alyssa Sebesto marked three caused turnovers for the Monarchs. Lauren Ey, MaryCate Markey, and Isabelle O’Connell all spent time in the net. Ey tallied six saves.
