NORFOLK, Va. - The No. 39 Old Dominion women’s tennis team (11-4) fell to No. 45 Virginia Tech (9-2) by a 4-3 score on Friday at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. The loss snapped the Monarchs three-match win-streak. Friday marked the first time in the past four matches that ODU has been scored on.
Holly Hutchinson/Natalya Malenko and Yulia Starodubtseva/Adriana Rajkovic each won their respective doubles matches to give ODU a 1-0 lead.
Nataliia Vlasova and Yulia Starodubtseva picked up singles victories, but the Hokies would claim victory in the other four matches to pull out a 4-3 victory in Norfolk.
The Tennis Monarchs will return to action on Sunday, March 11, when ODU hosts Tulane (7-5) for a 10:00 a.m. start.
