NORFOLK, Va. - Holly Hutchinson, a sophomore on the ODU women’s tennis team from Middlesex, England, was named the Conference USA Athlete of the Week on Wednesday afternoon, as announced by conference officials.
Hutchinson went 4-0 last week to help lift the Monarchs to two more road victories. Both her singles wins came in the No. 1 slot and also came in straight sets against Marshall in Huntington and West Virginia in Morgantown. Hutchinson and the Monarchs are now nationally ranked No. 39, 11-3 overall and 2-0 against Conference USA foes.
The award is the second of the season for Hutchinson. ODU has now claimed the award four of the eight weeks.
Old Dominion will return to action Friday, March 9, when the Monarchs welcome the Hokies of Virginia Tech to the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center for a 1:00 p.m. start. ODU will be right back at home for a Sunday match against Tulane on March 11. Sunday’s match is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m.
