Monarchs Defeated by George Mason, 16-5

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion (1-7) lacrosse team fell to George Mason (6-2) by a 16-5 final score at the L.R. Hill on Saturday afternoon. Four different Monarchs scored in Natalie Ledwitz, Katie Miller, Glory Johnson, and Lindsay Baer.

George Mason opened up scoring with two straight goals. Katie Miller answered for Old Dominion with 25 minutes left to play in the first.

The Patriots scored four more before first half time expired. Old Dominion’s Lindsay Baer tallied a goal to make the GMU lead, 7-2.

In the second half of play George Mason scored three straight before ODU got on the board again. Glory Johnson tallied her eighth goal of the season to give the Patriots a six-goal lead with 25 minutes left to play in regulation.

George Mason then tallied seven in a row to extend their lead to 16-3.

To end scoring, Natalie Ledwitz notched back-to-back goals.

The Patriots outshot ODU, 34-20.

Defensively, Lauren Ey had five saves. Entering the goal for the first time, Isabelle O’Connell had one save. Kerri Caruso and Katie Miller both had two ground balls each. 

Glory Johnson tallied six shots.
