NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion (1-6) lacrosse team fell to No. 25 High Point (5-2) on Wednesday afternoon at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex, 15-9. The Panthers tallied 10 goals in the second half to surge past the Monarchs.
High Point got on the board first with a Samantha Herman goal. The Monarchs answered 10 minutes later to tie up the score.
A Glory Johnson goal gave the Monarchs the lead with 10 minutes to play in the first half. The sophomore transfer tallied her first hat trick as a Monarch.
Scoring continued to go back and forth, leaving the match tied after the first half of play.
In the second half, a Sophia Richie goal in the first minute of play gave the Monarchs the lead.
The Panthers went on to score three straight goals to give them an 8-6 lead with 18 minutes left to play.
Old Dominion inched closer with three more goals in the second half but could not reach the Panthers as they scored seven more times to close out play.
Defensively, Lauren Ey had seven saves for the Monarchs. MK Maloney earned three ground balls.
High Point outshot the Monarchs, 36-19.
