With 10 days until spring football practice, ODUSports.com takes a look at each position group for the Monarchs. Today we feature the running backs.

Running Back
Old Dominion loses its leading rusher the last four years and the all-time FBS leader in rushing in the state of Virginia in Ray Lawry, but retains a group that combined to rush for 813 yards and six touchdowns last season.

Senior Jeremy Cox returns as the most experienced of the group. He rushed for 621 yards and four touchdowns in 2016 and caught 20 passes for 176 yards in 10 games. Cox is the second leading rusher in ODU history with 1675 yards. Cox missed the last two games last year with an injury but is expected to be ready for this season.

Brandon Sinclair saw his first action of his career last year against North Carolina, carrying three times for 26 yards. He played in 10 games last season as a redshirt freshman, rushing 21 times for 86 yards.

Junior Gemonta Jackson also played in 10 games last year, logging 12 carries for 67 yards and a touchdown.

Brandon Simmons was off to a promising start last year with 13 attempts for 39 yards and a touchdown before an injury shelved him for the year after four games. He received a redshirt year and will return for his senior season.

Kesean Strong returns as a junior after redshirting last season. Strong has played both wide receiver and running back in his first two years, rushing for 74 yards and a touchdown, while catching 12 passes for 127 yards.
