NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 38 Old Dominion’s men’s tennis team (8-5) made quick work out of No. 24 Utah (14-2), as the Monarchs claimed a 4-0 victory at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on Friday afternoon. Last Sunday, the Monarchs upset No. 14 Dartmouth by a 4-1 score in New Hampshire.
“This was a complete team win today from top to bottom,” said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. “Everybody just focused on their court and the fans were great cheering us on. We had a great crowd here today which makes a huge difference. Our strong schedule is paying dividends right now, we are used to this type of competition and see success. I think the guys can’t wait to go down to Tampa for Spring Break, enjoy Florida and take on three more quality teams next weekend.”
ODU will next travel to Tampa, Fla. to take part in the Spring Break Tournament beginning on March 9. The Monarchs will later face a conference foe in Middle Tennessee on March 16. That is the first in a stretch of five straight road matches for the Monarchs. During that stretch, ODU is scheduled to face two more C-USA opponents in FAU and Charlotte, respectively. Old Dominion will not return home until April 15, when they face William & Mary. That marks the last match at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center for the season.
