WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Old Dominion (1-5) lacrosse team fell to William and Mary (4-4) by an 8-5 score on Saturday afternoon in Williamsburg. Three different Monarchs scored, including a hat trick by senior Cydney Tutchton.
Scoring started in the first three minutes of play with an Old Dominion goal by Cydney Tutchton. Tutchton tallied another to extend the lead to 2-0. The Tribe answered with three straight goals to get ahead of Old Dominion by one.
Katie Miller tallied her sixth goal of the season to tie the game just before the first half of play completed.
Defensively, Lauren Ey had seven saves in the first half.
To open the second half, Cydney Tutchton tallied her third goal of the game to put the Monarchs ahead by one goal.
William and Mary answered with four-straight goals to take the lead in the second half.
Lauren Irvine tallied the final Monarch goal but it was not enough to rally past the Tribe.
To finish out scoring, William and Mary's Sophie Kopec notched the final goal of regulation.
Lauren Ey played all 60 minutes in net for the Monarchs and tallied 13 saves, a season high. Lauren Irvine and Alyssa Sebesto both notched three caused turnovers each.
