With 3 days until spring football practice, ODUSports.com continues to take a look at each position group. Today we feature the defensive backs.
Cornerbacks
ODU gradutes all-conference cornerback Brandon Addison, but returns several players with playing experience as well as several players they were able to redshirt in 2017.
Joe Joe Headen and Jamez Brickhouse each started six games last season opposite of Addison, and will look to claim starting roles this spring. Headen earned C-USA All-Freshman honors, notching 36 tackles, two interceptions and a fumble recovery. Brickhouse totaled 26 tackles and three pass breakups.
Elijah Blue played in 10 games, mostly on special teams and added three tackles.
ODU was able to redshirt promising freshmen, Geronda Hall and Tracy White.
Safeties
Sean Carter and Justice Davila rank eighth and ninth in ODU career history in tackles, and the pair returns at safety for the Monarchs. Carter finished fifth last season with 54 tackles and a team-high three interceptions and a fumble recovery. He also added five breakups. Davila redshirted in 2017 and will be ready for spring practice.
Senior to be Justin Noye had his best season, recording 33 tackles and a pass breakup and starting the first two games of his career. Noye is also a quality special teams player for the Monarchs.
Prince Ajegwu and Parrish Gordon saw their first action last year as redshirt freshmen and add depth to the group.
The Monarchs redshirted Chesapeake native, Austin Wood.
