Spring Football Position Preview: LinebackerSpring Football Position Preview: Linebacker

With 4 days until spring football practice, ODUSports.com continues to take a look at each position group. Today we feature the linebackers.

Linebackers
Old Dominion was one of four FBS schools to enter last season without having any career starts at the linebacker position. Linebacker experience will be less of a problem this spring after Marvin Branch and Jordan Young started all 12 games last season and return, while Lawrence Garner and Zach Lackman earned valuable playing time.

Branch led the team with 96 tackles and added four pass breakups, a fumble recovery and an interception. He was the only linebacker on the squad heading into last year with any collegiate tackles, and led the way for the young group.

Jordan Young was second on the team in tackles with 85 and earned C-USA All-Freshman honors. He notched a forced fumble, 1.5 sacks and 6.0 tackles for loss in his first season.

Lawrence Garner, Zach Lackman and Demetrius Stitmon all had 13 tackles apiece as redshirt freshman, backing up at linebacker and playing significant roles on special teams.

Terez Dickerson saw an increased role as a backup linebacker and on special teams and contributed six tackles.
