NORFOLK, Va. Old Dominion women’s lacrosse head coach Heather Holt announced Kerri Caruso, Alyssa Sebesto, and Cydney Tutchton as the 2018 captains.

"Kerri Caurso, Alyssa Sebesto, and Cydney Tutchton have been major contributors to our program over the past few years.  They have helped to build our program and continue to set new, higher, standards for the team each day.  In addition to being great leaders on the field, each of our captains excel in the classroom and are on Dean's List (3.5 or higher) each semester.  This combination is the definition of a true student-athlete.  I am excited to see where our team goes with their strong leadership,” said head coach Heather Holt.

Kerri Caruso is set to begin her junior season and plays defense for the Monarchs. She started all 18 games in 2017 and was named to the 2018 Preseason All-Conference Team. In addition, she was tied for the team lead in caused turnovers (32) and second on the team in ground balls (40) and draw controls (six). As a freshman, she started all 20 games for the Monarchs and was the only defender named to the A-Sun All-Freshman team. Caruso will be wearing #14 this season. Academically, Caruso studies mechanical engineering and was named to the 2017 ASUN All-Academic Team and in 2016 earned the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal and C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Alyssa Sebesto out of Parsippany, New Jersey is about to begin her junior season as well. As a defender, Sebesto played in 38 games and started 35. Last season, she set career highs in ground balls (33), which was tied for fourth on the team, draw controls (17), and caused turnovers (14) which was second on the team. The criminal justice major earned C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal and the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Senior Cydney Tutchton will also be playing midfield for the Monarchs. The Georgia native was selected on the 2018 ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team. She enters this season after scoring a career-high 24 goals in 2017. She also set career highs in points (32) and assists (eight). Her 28 draw controls were the third best mark on the team. In 2016, during her sophomore season, she finished fifth on the team in goals (19) and fourth in draw controls (21). As a freshman, she made the A-Sun All-Freshman Team after recording 11 goals and three assists on the season. She will be wearing #6 this season. Academically, Tutchton has earned a 4.0 in every semester at ODU. The biology major earned C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal and the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and named to the 2017 ASUN All-Academic and the CoSIDA Academic All-District teams throughout her career.

Old Dominion women’s lacrosse are set to open their season on Feb. 14, against VCU. That game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. EST at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.
